Our university, which upholds the educational ideals of national salvation, independence, and self-reliance, sets the goal of university education as "nurturing D3 talents who contribute to human society through patriotism and innovation." To realize this motto, "Truth and Service," we aim to foster "D3 talents" (active, innovative, and dedicated) who are patriotic and contribute to society. This ideal "D3 talents" embodies our university's educational goals and reflects the contemporary demand for both individual growth and societal advancement.

About Dankook University

Dankook University's founding principles of national salvation, independence, and self-reliance stem from the historical experiences of its founders, Beomjeong Jang Hyeong and Hyedang Cho Hee-jae. Having experienced the sorrow of losing their country under the harsh Japanese colonial rule, they firmly believed that the independence of their country and people ultimately lies in nurturing talent rooted in patriotism.

The two founders recognized the mission of intellectuals as one of dedicating their abilities to the nation, not to individuals, practicing a firm sense of ownership grounded in social and historical truth, and thereby enabling individuals and national communities to maintain their independent selves.
Furthermore, cultivating talents who embody this same consciousness is precisely the very purpose of Dankook University.

Dankook University, founded on this founding philosophy, advocates the universal mission of its members: truth and service. The ultimate goal of research and study, the means of pursuing truth, goes beyond simply securing the means of survival to enriching humanity's shared intellectual assets and cultural traditions. Dankookians believe that
academics have a duty to contribute to the advancement of history, not just to the return of knowledge to society. As intellectuals, fostering constructive criticism and character, and willingly undertaking activities that benefit the advancement of the community are the very path Dankook must take and the path to realizing its spirit of service. A
strong sense of national pride grounded in historical truth, coupled with the determination and will to pursue the common calling of universities worldwide, are the true driving forces that have made Dankook what it is today.
