교수소개
본인은 단국대학에서 화학과 학부과정을 졸업하고, 독일 아헨 공과대학 (RWTH-AACHEN; http://www.rwth-aachen.de) 화학부에서 Vordiplom, Hauptdiplom, 박사과정을 마치었습니다. 참고로 독일 아헨 공과대학은 2차 세계대전의 폐허에서 오늘의 독일을 일구어낸 역사 140여 년의 독일의 대표적인 대학이며, 학문은 이론만으로는 이루어질 수 없다는 독일의 실용주의 교육정신을 교육방식에 잘 적용하고 있는 대학입니다. (2007. 11. 01자 위클리조선 참조) 박사과정까지는 유기금속화합물 (주로 Titanium Amino Acid Complexes)들을 합성하였으며, 목적은 유기반응 및 고분자 합성반응시 사용되는 키랄촉매를 제조하기위함입니다. 그이후 나노기공을 가지고있는 키랄 MOF (Metal-Organic Framework; 반응촉매 및 수소 저장체로 응용가능)의 합성, 2차전지 폐원료로부터 순도 99.9% CoSO4, CoCO3 (2차전지용 고순도 양극물질제조에 사용)를 분리하는 프로젝트에도 참여한바 있습니다.
본인은 현재 “이온성액체”와 “탄소나노튜브 (그래핀, 그라파이트 포함)”의 응용연구에 큰 관심을 가지고 있습니다. “이온성액체”와 “탄소나노튜브”는 1990년대 이후로 에너지, 환경, 나노 연구분야에의 기초연구와 공업적 응용 가능성 때문에 관심을 많이 받아온 신소재들입니다. 현재는 특히 조직재생과 관련하여 다양한 응용연구들을 수행하고 있고, 이미 많은 귀중한 결과들을 얻고 있습니다. “이온성액체”와 “탄소나노튜브”소재들의 조직재생분야에 응용은 이제 막 시작되는 새로운 시도들이며, 이를 위해 더욱 더 많은 세계적인 연구결과, 원천기술 및 특허를 확보하고자 최선을 다하고 있습니다. 많은 학생들의 관심과 참여를 기대합니다.

셋째로, 본인은 합성 및 천연고분자 재료, 합성 및 천연 무기재료들의 개질 및 다양한 응용을 수행하고 있습니다.
