structure of human language, as well as to introduce some basic methods of its scientific

● Teaching Reading-Kristine Erin Graw

This course is designed to enable students to get an overview of various issues
regarding second language reading and how to effectively teach second language
reading. The objectives of this course is to examine reading as a dynamic and interactive
process in which learners make use of background knowledge, text schema, and real-
world knowledge as well as their personal purposes and goals. Throughout the course,
students will become familiar with reading theories and current research and also
practice integrating reading into their EFL teaching curriculum.

● Teaching Methods and Classroom Practices -Michele.W.Milnr

teaching approaches that have been influential in the 20th century. Students will be
asked to prepare demonstrations of several of the prominent approaches and 'methods'
and to show in their presentations how the principles and techniques central to these
methods might be adapted to support language teaching in various situations. This
course will involve lectures, assigned readings and workshop discussions. Students
will be required to critique and discuss many of the issues raised by the readings, and
to relate them to current practices in the field of language teaching.

focus is on understanding the basic mechanisms and processes underlying second
language learning. Major learning theories will be examined, as will their implications for
second language teaching.

major forces driving and influencing L2 learning, and b) to provoke critical thinking about
aspects of second language teaching.

development to the practical realities of the classroom. It will provide a systematic
approach to developing materials for the classroom. In addition it will look at developing
materials from various sources such as the internet, concordances, literature and the
arts. The course will have a practical focus, where students will gain experience in key
techniques for the development of materials associated with task-based language
teaching and see how these techniques can be applied in a variety of language teaching
situations.

● Screen English-Christian Kim
Nowadays, in the global educational setting, we are surrounded by a plethora of
multimedia tools such as the Internet, Television, DVD, Blue Ray, etc. But the problem
lies within implementing these new tools. This course will have two objectives: One is to
become more familiar with the multimedia class. The other is to improve the listening
skills and paraphrasing skills needed in an academic environment. There will be a heavy
emphasis on listening using movies or news.
