교수소개

본인은 유기화합물들의 자기조립을 통해 형성되는 나노구조를 이용하여 기능성 재료를 구현하고자 하는 연구를 진행 중이다. 유기합성 및 고분자 중합방법을 이용하여 기존의 분자 형태와는 근본적으로 다른 새로운 분자 형태의 양친매성 공중합체를 합성하고, 이들 분자들이 환경에 따라 자기조립을 통해 어떠한 나노구조가 형성되는지를 조사하고 있다. 이러한 fundamental한 연구를 바탕으로 이온전달체, 전도성 재료, 약물 전달체등의 분야에 적용할 수 있는 새로운 재료를 개발하고자 한다. 연구업적으로는 현재까지 90 여편의 SCI 논문을 발표하였고, 특히 2004년에는 세계최고의 과학전문지인 Science에 제 1저자로 등재되었을 뿐만 아니라, 연구 결과가 미국화학회 소식지인 Chemical & Engineering News에 소개되었다. 단국대학교 부임 후, 본 연구실의 독자적인 연구를 통해 세계적인 종합화학지인 JACS (미국화학회지)에 2편(2008년), Angew.Chem. Int. Ed. (2011, 2019년), Chem. Eur. J.에 4편 (2009, 2010, 2014, 2020년), Chem. Commun.(2007년, 2012년)에 3편, 및 세계적인 재료화학잡지인 J. Mater. Chem., Soft Matter, Macromolecules 등에 다수의 논문을 게재하여, 본 연구실의 독창적인 연구력을 인정받고 있다.
특히, 최근에 강유전성 원기둥 유기액정에 관련된 내용을 Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. (2019년)에 발표하였으며, 관련 연구 우수성으로 인해 Chem. Eur. J.에 초청 review 논문을 발표하였다. 이와 더불어, 청색광을 차단할 수 있거나, 활성산화를 제거할 수 있는 기능성 콘택트렌즈 개발을 진행 중에 있으며, 다수의 관련 특허를 보유 중이다.
