교수소개

단국대학교 생물학과를 졸업하고, 동대학원에서 석사 및 박사학위를 취득하였다. 박사학위 논문은 "한국 해산 옆새우류 (갑각강, 단각목)의 분류학적 연구"로 한국 해역에 서식하는 절지동물, 단각류의 미기록 및 신종 발굴과 함께 이들의 계통유연 관계를 연구하였다. 캐나다국립자연사박물관(Canadian Museum of Nature, CMN)에서 박사후연구원(postdoctoral researcher)으로 연구를 수행하였다. 현재 절지동물 갑각류 (단각류, 패충류, 올챙이새우류)의 계통분류학적 연구를 수행 중에 있다. 해양수산부의 해양수산생명자원 기탁등록보존기관으로 지정되어 해양단각류 자원의 종합적인 연구관리를 하고 있다. 또한 World Register of Marine Species (WoRMS), Journal of Species Research (JSR)에서 편집위원으로 활동하고 있다. 학부 강의로 '동물분류학' ‘생태학’ '임해실습' 을 가르치고 있다.
