대중음악학과
대중음악제작·경영전공
근대 이후 세계사 속에 등장한 대중음악은 20세기를 거치면서 지배적인 음악문화로 성장하였으며, 영화와 더불어 현대 자본주의 대중문화를 견인하는 쌍두마차로 자리 잡게 되었다.
그럼에도 불구하고 한국의 대학에서는 대중음악에 대한 인문학적 연구나 산업적 접근이 거의 전무한 상태이며, 이에 우리 대학원에서는 지난 2001년 한국 최초로 대중음악에 대한
인문학적, 산업적 연구를 핵심으로 하는 전공과정을 개설하여 많은 대중예술지도자들을 배출해 왔다.
특히, 본 ‘대중음악 제작ㆍ경영 전공’ 과정에서는 과거 예술에 대한 대중들의 무관심과 예술의 엘리트화를 낳았던 대중예술과 고급예술의 케케묵은 이분법을 넘어
대중들의 일상 속으로 스며들 수 있는 새로운 예술적 인식의 패러다임을 제시하기 위해 다양한 커리큘럼과 대중음악산업 현장 중심의 실무적인 교육을 시행하는데 궁극적인 목적이 있다.
현대는 대중사회이다. 문화예술도 대중문화가 주도하고 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 대학에서는 정통예술인재만 키워왔다. 이제 대학에서 대중문화를 주도하는 지도자를 양성할 때가 된 것이다.
우리 대학원이 선도적으로 대중예술지도자를 키워내기 위해서 이런 학과를 만들었고 한국 유일의 대중음악전공을 시도한 것이다.
가령 대중음악의 철학적 배경에서부터 대중음악사, 대중음악제작, 공급 등 다양한 커리큘럼으로 양질의 교육을 시행하고 있다. 따라서 현역 가수들이 많이 입학하고 있으며 제작자들도 공부하고 있다.

The modern music industry has seen explosive growth compared to the past. Since the early 2000s, when Korean music first began gaining attention in parts of Asia under the genre of K-pop, more than 20 years have passed. Today, K-pop has established itself as a major genre not only in Asia but also in global markets such as North America and Europe—traditionally the home of pop music—drawing significant attention from the global music industry. This course offers an opportunity to explore the diverse and fascinating aspects of the music business and to naturally gain insight into the latest industry trends and developments. |
| 현대사회와 대중음악 ( Modern society and pop music ) | 본 교과목의 목적은 현대사회와 문화를 대표하는 대중음악을 몇 가지 핵심어를 중심으로 살펴보는 것이다. 본 교과목은 크게 두 부분으로 나누어서 진행될 것이다. 하나는 대중음악의 생산과 수용이고, 다른 하나는 대중음악과 사회, 주요 논점들이 그것이다. 대중음악의 생산과 수용에서는 산업, 기술, 수용자로 나누어서 각각의 공시적 통시적 의미를 살펴볼 것이다. 다음으로 대중음악과 사회, 주요논점들 부문에서는 지리(공간, 장소), 세대, 정치 여성으로 나누어서 고찰할 것이다. 이를 통해, 몇 가지 핵심어를 통해 대중음악을 공시적인 방법과 통시적인 방법으로 이해할 수 있을 것이다. 아울러 대중음악을 비판적으로 바라보는 안목을 기를 수 있을 것으로 기대한다. | The aim of this course is to examine popular music—one of the key representations of contemporary society and culture—through a set of central keywords. The course will be divided into two main parts: the production and reception of popular music, and the relationship between popular music and society, along with major issues. In the first part, we will explore the production and reception of popular music by looking at the industry, technology, and audience, considering both synchronic and diachronic perspectives. In the second part, we will discuss popular music in relation to society by focusing on topics such as geography (space and place), generation, politics, and gender. Through this approach, students will gain an understanding of popular music using both synchronic and diachronic methods, while also developing a critical perspective on the subject. |

What exactly is the humanities? And why is it becoming increasingly important in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution—a time defined by cutting-edge technology? Why do respected and admired figures, both in Korea and around the world, often cite the humanities as a key to their success? Through this course, we will explore various real-world cases, uncover the underlying humanistic elements within them, and engage in research and discussion around these findings. |
| 예술인을 위한 경영학원론 ( The principle of management for Artists ) | 최근 기존의 예술경영학과 다른 현실적인 비즈니스스킬이 예술인들에게 점차 요구되고 있다. 이에 예술인들이 꼭 알아야할 경영학원론을 기초로 기본적인 경영기법을 학습하여 다가오는 4차 산업혁명시대에 적응하는 예술인으로서 사회에서 예술적 경영적 역량을 발휘할 수 있게 된다. | Recently, artists are increasingly expected to possess practical business skills that go beyond the traditional scope of arts management. This course aims to broaden that perspective by exploring the concept of popular music in a more inclusive and essential way—music created for and embraced by the public, regardless of country, genre, lyrics, or content. | 세계의 대중음악 II ( Popular Musics in World II ) | 팝(Pop)이라고 일컬어지는 미국을 포함한 영어권 나라들의 대중음악, 그리고 우리가 살아가고 있는 케이팝(K-pop, Korean Pop)의 고장 한국. 이 두 문화권의 대중음악에 대한 정보와 그것들을 접할 수 있는 기회는 정말 많다. 하지만 이 두 문화권을 제외한 수많은 나라들의 팝(Pop.)을 접할 기회는 흔치 않다. 다른 나라들의 대중음악-프랑스의 샹송, 아일랜드 등-을 살펴보며 두 문화권으로만 국한되어지는 대중음악이라는 개념의 확장을 목표로 한다. 앞선 세계의 대중음악 수업을 통해 미국, 라틴아메리카, 유럽의 대중음악을 심도있게 살펴보았다. 두 번째 세계의 대중음악 수업을 통해서 가장 근원적인 아프리카의 음악과 아시아의 음악들을 살펴본다. |
The English-Speaking Countries, including USA, they called their popular music as Pop. Also South Korea, the county in which we are living, we called our popular music as K-Pop(Korean Pop).Therefore we have a plenty of informations or opportunities to enjoy those kinds of mass culture of music. But how about the other countries? Do they NOT have their Pop? Their own mass culture of music? Only particular sides of mass culture we are oversupplied, but lack of the others. | 음악교육학총론 ( Introduction to Music Education ) | 음악은 궁극적으로 인간의 풍요로운 삶의 방향을 규정짓고, 일상속에서 예술적 생활양식을 가꾸어 주는 중요한 요소로 작용한다. 그러나, 현재, 우리나라의 음악교육은 많은 시대적, 교육적, 사회적 문제를 안고 있다. 따라서, 작금의 음악교육은 음악의 잠재적 가능성을 극대화하고, 시대의 변화에 따른 음악적 가치관과 사회를 변화시키는 능동적인 역할을 해야한다. 그러기 위해서 음악교육은 수동적이고 제한적인 사고 영역안에서만 머물러서는 안되고 능동적이고 개방적인 사고 영역으로 확장하여야 한다. 본 수업에서는 음악교육에 헌신하려는 이들이 반드시 이해하고 알아야 할 음악교육학 이론과 다양한 교수방법론을 제시하게 될 것이다. | Music serves as an important factor in defining the direction of human life's richness and cultivating an artistic lifestyle in everyday life. | 음악 저작권 I ( Music Copyright I ) | 인터넷이 등장하고 디지털이 대표되는 기술이 도임되면서 예전에는 미처 예견하지 못했던 법적 쟁점이 발생하고 있다. 저작권도 그와 같은 법적 쟁점중 하나이다. 최근의 미니어 환경에서는 인터넷을 이용하 여 음악이나 영화를 감상하거나 전자책을 읽기 위해 기본적으로 콘텐츠에 대한 복제가 수반되므로 자연 히 저작권문제가 발생할 수 있다. 새로운 미디어 기기와 서비스기술이 등장할 때마다 항상 창작자와 이 용자 사이에 갈등이 생기고 저작권 쟁점이 더욱 복잡해지고 있다. 새로운 기술과 서비스, 기기들은 저작 물의 창작과 이용에 크게 이바지하지만, 다른 한편으로는 저작권 침해의 가능성을 높여주면서 저작권자 에게는 큰 위협이 되기도 한다. 본 수업에서는 저작권법이 과연 무엇을 보호하기 위한것인지, 근본적으로 보호의 대싱•은 무엇인지, 보호 받을 수있는 범위는 어디까지인지와 같이 본질적인 측면을 이해하기 위해서 저작권제도에 대한 이해와 습득이 선행되는 수업이다. |

In recent media enuronments, copyright problems can occur naturally, since It basically involves cloning content to listen to music, movies, or read ebooks using the Internet. Whenever new media devices and service technologies emerge, conflicts between creators and users always anse and copyright issues become more complicated. 1lile new technologies, services and devices greatly contribute to the creation and use of the work, on the other hand, they pose a great threat to copyright holders while increasing the likelihood Of copyright infringement. | 서구권 아티스트의 이해와 감상 ( Understanding and Appreciation of Western Artists ) | 하나의 장르로 성립되기까지 많은 아티스들의 노력과 시간이 깃들어 있다. 장르안에서 활동하던 아티스트들의 작품과 작품을 만들기까지 아티스트의 인생사, 사회의 시대적 흐름을 살펴보고 1970년대와 1980년대의 가속화된 장르화를 통해 다시금 서로 크로스오버되는 장르음악 또 파생되는 음악의 정립을 통해 팝의 황금기를 살펴보고 현재 케이팝의 여자가수들이 강세를 보이는 것처럼 90년대에는 대형 여가수를 필두로 여성아티스트의 활약이 두드러 졌는데 이처럼 활발히 활동했던 아티스트들의 작품을 감상하고 연구하는 수업이다. | There are many artists' efforts and time to establish a genre.
